A Day of Music, Community, and Connection: Latinx Choral Project at the Latinx LGBTQ+ Community Fair and Juntos PDX
Yesterday was one of those rare, soul-filling days that remind you exactly why community matters. From the moment I arrived at The Latinx LGBTQ+ Community Fair at 10 a.m., I felt the electric energy of a space where music, culture, and identity collided most joyfully.
The Latinx Choral Project had a table set up, bright with our signature colors, flyers, and information about our upcoming concerts and how to join our growing family of singers. It wasn’t long before curious passersby stopped by to say, “¿Qué es esto? ¿Es para mí?” (Yes, you belong here!) We talked, laughed, and shared stories. I met music lovers, shower singers, and a few bold souls who immediately said, “Sign me up!”
At noon, I had the honor of leading a singing session from the stage. There’s something magical about hearing a crowd of strangers raise their voices together. We sang, we clapped, we cheered each other on. The sound danced on the breeze, lifting spirits and drawing even more people in to discover the Latinx Choral Project.
The afternoon unfolded like a celebration. I crossed the river after the Community Fair ended and met with fellow creatives who, like me, will be part of the upcoming Juntos PDX event: Cuentos De Triunfo on June 8 in collaboration with the iconic Milagro Theatre. Over lunch, we swapped ideas, shared dreams, and found an effortless kinship. There’s a rare kind of magic when you meet people who just get it—who understand the power of storytelling, music, and representing our vibrant Latinx community.
We weren’t done yet! After lunch, we wandered down to the train tracks near Portland’s waterfront. Against the city skyline and river backdrop, we filmed content and snapped photos to promote the upcoming Juntos PDX event. Laughter, creativity, and genuine friendship wove through every moment.
I walked away with more than just footage and a handful of new contacts. I walked away with connection, community, and a heart full of gratitude. It felt like the start of something real, something lasting.

Un día de música, comunidad y conexión: Latinx Choral Project en la Feria Comunitaria Latinx LGBTQ+ y preparación para Juntos PDX
Ayer fue uno de esos días que te llenan el alma y te recuerdan exactamente por qué la comunidad importa. Desde el momento en que llegué a la Feria Comunitaria Latinx LGBTQ+ a las 10 de la mañana, sentí la energía vibrante de un espacio donde la música, la cultura y la identidad se unieron de la forma más alegre.
El Latinx Choral Project tenía su mesa lista, llena de colores, folletos e información sobre nuestros próximos conciertos y cómo unirse a esta familia creciente de cantantes. No pasó mucho tiempo para que personas curiosas se acercaran y preguntaran: “¿Qué es esto? ¿Puedo participar?” (¡Sí, tú también perteneces aquí!) Conversamos, reímos y compartimos historias. Conocí amantes de la música, cantantes de ducha y algunos valientes que dijeron de inmediato: “¡Inscríbeme!”.
Al mediodía, tuve el honor de dirigir una sesión de canto comunitario desde el escenario. Hay algo mágico en escuchar a un grupo de desconocidos levantar sus voces juntos. Cantamos, aplaudimos y nos animamos mutuamente. El sonido se mezcló con la brisa, elevando los ánimos y atrayendo a más personas para descubrir de qué se trata el Latinx Choral Project.
La tarde siguió como una celebración. Me crucé con otros artistas latinx que, como yo, formarán parte del próximo evento Juntos PDX: Cuentos De Triunfo el 8 de junio en colaboración con el icónico Milagro Theatre. Durante el almuerzo compartimos ideas, sueños y encontramos una conexión inmediata. Hay una magia especial cuando conoces a personas que simplemente entienden lo que significa el poder de la música, la narración y la representación de nuestra vibrante comunidad latinx.
¡Pero todavía no habíamos terminado! Después de la feria, un pequeño grupo nos dirigimos a las vías del tren junto al río en Portland para grabar contenido promocional y tomar fotos para el evento de Juntos PDX. La luz, el fondo de la ciudad, las risas… todo se sintió mágico.
Me fui no solo con fotos y contactos nuevos. Me fui con conexión, comunidad y un corazón lleno de gratitud. Sentí que fue el inicio de algo real, algo duradero.
